Vision & Project
Introduction
Our strategies
The “BSL3 Research and Analysis Laboratory” is equipped with the most updated laboratory facility and instruments in the hope to provide immediate diagnosis in confronting novel infectious diseases. Our short-term goal is to provide accurate experimental data for evaluation of prophylactic/ therapeutic strategies and diagnosis methods against BSL-3 pathogens. Our long-term goal is to integrate a scientific team from basic researchers and clinical specialties, to cultivate talents specialized in life-threating infectious diseases, and to strengthen collaboration with national centers of disease control, which will help us to have a more immediate response to emerging infectious diseases to protect national health and maintain social economic development.
The “BSL3 Research and Analysis laboratory” isolated the first SARS-CoV-2 virus in Taiwan in late January of 2020, and has isolated many clinical SARS-CoV-2 strains since then. The full-length genome sequences of these SARS-CoV-2 strains have been determined and deposited in the GISAID. These variant strains can be used to evaluate the spectrum of antiviral drugs, vaccines/therapeutic antibody and diagnostic kits. We will continue to provide services and to increase the scope of our service items to respond to the needs from the industry and academia.
